English for Young Learner

1. Describe the features of an ideal teacher for young learners.
Answer: I think if we want an ideal teacher, we must have a sense of humour, open-minded, adaptable, patient. When we teach young learners we must adapt the students need.
The most important we must give a good attitudes and ability to our students. For the example we as the teacher we must give motivation, because the motivation determine what we do and we must to do something well, because the ability determine good we do it.
2. Discuss what the teacher of young learners should do to create a secure class atmosphere.
- What we are doing. The student need to know what happens and they need to feel that their teacher is responsibility.
- There is no limitation between teacher and students. In here teacher would be friends, they are speak like friends.
- Teacher must listen all about the student’s speak or student’s opinion. Don’t immediately mistakes if the student’s opinion was wrong. We can correction the mistakes in their exercises.
- We must told to our students that everyone have mistakes when they are learning a new language. So, we don’t laugh at others if they make mistakes.
- We make lists routine activity that must to do.
- We must instill a sense of responsibility to students. For the example the students must have done the assignment right time.
- We must avoid the competition, if it happen, make the naturally competition.
- We also avoid giving rewards or prizes. It is far better to tell to students that we like their work.
- We don’t give English name to students, because they are same.
3. Which students’ grouping is suitable for language teaching? Why?
Answer: I think groupwork is better, because it will train the interaction each others better. If pairwork they don’t have social communication well and in pairwork we can’t sharing more opinion.
4. Why shouldn’t a teacher of young learners allow students to group themselves?
Answer: Because if they make group themselves will take time and usually make noisy, so it’s not efficient. The teacher’s choise is better.
5. Classroom language is one of the effective tool to improve students’ language. Explain what is meant by classroom language. Give some examples.
Answer: classroom language is routine language that is used on a regular basis in classroom like giving instruction of praise. For the example the teacher give the instruction “sit down, please!” and if the students want answering the teacher’s question the teacher say “raise your hand!, etc.
